WHAT IS BOTOX?

BOTOX Cosmetic is an FDA-approved injectable product, called a neuromodulator or neurotoxin, that contains a purified form of botulinum toxin type A. It temporarily prevents certain muscle groups from contracting and creating folds in your facial skin. Interference in the action of these muscles allows these dynamic wrinkles to soften and become much less noticeable. XEOMIN® and Dysport® are newer alternatives that work in a similar way.

WHAT IS BOTOX USED FOR?

There are multiple muscles in the forehead and around the eyes that give the upper third of the face character and appearance. Repeated contractions of these muscles create lines and wrinkles over time causing the following concerns:

  • Horizontal forehead creases

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows (the 11s)

  • Crow’s feet at the outer corners of the eyes

ALTERNATIVE USES FOR BOTOX COSMETIC

These versatile injectable treatments may be used to provide a variety of additional benefits by treating the following concerns:

  • Thin upper lip for a BOTOX lip flip (may be combined with dermal filler lip augmentation)

  • Gummy smile

  • Square jawline for jawline slimming or masseter reduction

CAN YOU SEE BOTOX RESULTS IMMEDIATELY?

BOTOX results develop gradually as facial muscle contractions stop and the skin smooths out. You can expect to see results approximately 4 or 5 days after your injections. Improvement continues for 10 to 14 days.

HOW LONG DOES BOTOX LAST?

The skin-smoothing results from BOTOX last approximately 3 to 6 months. Regular maintenance treatments can help you continue your refreshed look.
